Bottom of the range: conventional gravity trenches in soil that drains, open flat lot, no pump. Top of the range: engineered system the soil forces on you (mound, drip, aerobic), hillside or wooded lot, pump chamber (adds $1,500–$3,500 when the field is uphill from the tank), or a lot with no room for a conventional field.

What isn't: landscaping beyond sod, driveway or fence removal if the field is under them, and unrelated plumbing.
Before you commit: get a diagnosis that rules out the repairable causes — clogged distribution box, crushed line, a tank that just needed pumping. A replacement that wasn't necessary is the most expensive mistake in septic.
