How we find it
- County permit drawing (free or nearly free — ask first)
- Following the main drain line from the house with a probe or camera
- Electronic locator flushed through the system where needed
Risers. A riser brings the tank lid to grade so future pump-outs, inspections and filter cleanings don't involve a shovel. Cost $200–$400, installed during a pump-out. It pays for itself in two visits and it's the first thing a septic inspector notices.
Forsyth and Cherokee Environmental Health both supply copies of the original septic drawing on request, which is the cheapest locate there is. In red clay, digging to a buried lid adds $50–$150 every single pump-out; a riser at $200–$400 eliminates that permanently and makes every future service faster.
Lid replacement. Cracked concrete or corroded steel lids are a safety hazard — falls into septic tanks happen. We replace them at the same visit.
All work is performed by Georgia DPH-certified septic contractors who are licensed and insured.
